Workshops & Services for
Parents and Teachers

"Listening - are you really?" - Listening is the most important skill you will ever use.

After this 2 hour experiential workshop on "active listening," you will listen to others in a different way. "Active listening" is not conversational listening; it is listening on a much deeper level.

If you use the tools from this workshop, your family, friends, and colleagues will respond to you in more positive ways, not because they are hearing you better but because you are hearing them better.

Genuine "active listening" is the most basic skill in respectful communication. It is not often modeled in our worklives; but it can be learned in a workshop, and used for a lifetime.

"Family Meetings" - This workshop is useful for parents who are thinking of starting family meetings, as well as parents who already hold family meetings and want support and improvement ideas.

Family meetings can significantly enhance family communication and cohesiveness. They can help eliminate power struggles, and bring family members closer.

"Communication Skills Workshop" - This workshop introduces the basic skills needed for respectful communication in both calm and highly charged situations and illustrates how to use them in conflict resolution.

These skills -- which increase the respect level in communication, open blocked communication, and accommodate high emotions -- are deceptively simple but require practice. They are subtly different from ordinary communication.

This workshop includes sessions on "I-Messages", "Active Listening", facilitation and conflict resolution. Time is included to practice each skill.

"Prejudice Reduction" - Several workshops are available to prepare children and adults to become leaders who possess the skills needed to create and sustain caring communities. Experiential workshops offer explorations in these areas: listening and group pride, male/female attitudes, defining conflicts, combating stereotypes, and leadership training.

Workshops guide participants toward an understanding of prejudice, how prejudice affects each of us, and how to address prejudicial remarks and behavior. Continuing consultation is available for leadership support groups, prejudice reduction support groups, and other efforts.
