Children climbing on a structure in the Little Nursery yard. Children at Play Mountain Place are not lifted up to higher places, but climb under their own power. If they need support, or ask for help, we assist them in other ways that still allow them to be under their own power in moving their bodies. This gives children a sure-footed power, and confidence in their own abilities.

During a Morning Meeting, children gather to look at a sharing. Here in Big Nursury/House Group yard, you can see across the yard to the The Tractor and The Fish, both structures have been at the school since it's earliest days.

Located on a quiet, shaded, residential street adjacent to Culver City in Los Angeles, California, the school environment is primarily outdoors. Challenging, multipurpose items and play structures provide for adventure, fantasy play and experimentation. The school has animals, cooking and pottery facilities, arts and crafts areas, sand boxes and climbing trees. Children have open access to work spaces, books, cozy corners and hide-a-ways throughout the indoor and outdoor environment.
