Black Lives Matter Statement from the Board of Trustees

July 20, 2020

Dear Members of the Play Mountain Place Community,

We share in the collective heartbreak and pain of seeing so many Black lives lost to unthinkable acts of violence. We mourn, we grieve, and we fear that these incidents will not be the last to result from the persistent racism and injustice in our society. We want you to know that we stand firmly in support of the Black community. Black Lives Matter.

The vision statement of our school begins with these words: “We envision a just world…” We recognize that this vision could never be realized while our society is pervaded with systemic racism. We commit ourselves as a Board to deepen our understanding of racism, and to find meaningful and effective ways to participate and act in the movement against racial injustice, including advocating forcefully for change.

Further, we renew our pledge to uphold our school’s core values, which include helping our children learn not only mutual respect and peaceful conflict resolution, but also how to recognize and stand up against unfairness, injustice, and racism.

Sincerely,

Board of Trustees,

Play Mountain Place
